Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.87 percent to close at 3185.44 points.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.65 percent higher at 10537.59 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was up 0.77 percent to close at 1821.28 points.
