Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) grains futures closed lower on Wednesday following a bullish session the previous day.
The most active corn contract for July delivery went down 4 cents, or 1.05 percent, to 3.77 dollars per bushel. July wheat delivery fell 2 cents, or 0.45 percent to 4.43 dollars per bushel. July soybeans was down 0.75 cents, or 0.08 percent, to 9.3175 dollars per bushel.
Corn and soybean futures pared previous gains as scattered showers moved through the mid-western growing regions, where grains had suffered from hot and dry weathers since the beginning of June.
Wheat prices followed the downturn from a more than two percent rise the previous day, as profit-taking played some role.
Although the hot and dry spell has given way to showers this week, hot weather is expected to continue in some areas.
