Chicago Agricultural Commodities Close Higher-June 15

Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) grains futures closed higher on Thursday with wheat posting the biggest gains.

The most active corn contract for July delivery rose 2.5 cents, or 0.66 percent, to 3.795 dollars per bushel. July wheat delivery was up 10.75 cent, or 2.43 percent, to close at 4.5375 dollars per bushel. July soybeans climbed 3 cents, or 0.32 percent, to 9.3475 dollars per bushel.

New weather forecast predicts that a warm front will push northward later this week, with warm-to-hot temperatures returning to the Central U.S. regions, after some rainy and relatively cooler days.

The fluctuating weather forecasts have led to concerns that dry weather might affect the growing wheat negatively and cause some shortfalls.

Global traders also noted the heat and dryness in wheat-growing eastern Europe and Black Sea areas, which added support for the sharp rise of wheat futures.

Corn and soybeans followed the wheat, but posted only moderate gains.
