British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.09 percent, or 6.56 points, to close at 7,519.95 points.

Randgold Resources, a international gold mining business, soared 2.79 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Mediclinic International and Barratt Developments increased by 2.41 percent and 1.83 percent, respectively.

The major international metals and mining corporation Rio Tinto was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.53 percent. Another large multinational mining and metals company BHP Billiton dropped 2.45 percent. Glencore, an international commodity trading and mining company, fell 2.36 percent.
